San Jose Giants future in doubt: "San Jose officials have negotiated a lease extension for the minor league Giants to continue playing at Municipal Stadium through 2013 in a deal that provides for minor repairs to the ballpark but leaves the team's long-term prospects unanswered." (Via News: Local News -- MercuryNews.com.) It sounds like a sweet deal. The city gives the team $200,000 to repair leaks and lets the team's monthly $1000 rent payments go into a the stadium repair fund (instead of the general fund). At the same time the team raises season ticket prices by 81% so they can repair leaks.
All the while, the major renovations that need to be done to keep the team in town don't even get planned.
This is a sad day for SJ Giants fans.
