Shane Sakata reports on her first game

Baseball in Japan - My First Game of 2008:

CLM LogoYesterday I had the privilege of attending my first baseball game of the year in Japan (or anywhere for that matter).' The Chiba Lotte Marines beat the Orix Kintetsu Buffaloes by a score of 4-1.'' All of the scoring was the result of three home runs.' Koichi Hori, and Naotaka Takehara each hit' solo blasts, and Julio Zuleta cracked a two-run shot. Read More...

Shane gets to a ballgame, provides a report and some pictures. I am glad that I don't have to decipher the scoreboard.

2008 Top 25 Rookies: "Picking the top rookies for the 2008 season."

(Via Baseball America.)

Unfortunately, the link requires a subscription. But this is what they said:

23 Nate Schierholtz, of
San Francisco Giants

The Giants finally begin their post-Bonds reconstruction, and they'll eventually hand a full-time job to Schierholtz over one of their many mediocre veterans.

You may have noticed that I call it a top 24. This is because BA listed the A's Derik Barton twice as number 17 and 18. So, that might mean that Nate is actually their 22nd pick.

UPDATE: BA fixed their mistake adding Astro's catcher J.R. Towles at number 17. So Nate remains at 23.
