One day after loosing the home opener to the hated Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants have re-shuffled their line up. Citing the need to rebuild with players with playoff experience the Giants have put most of their staff on waivers and replaced them with players from the Cal League Champion SJ Giants. The sole remaining players on the active roster are former SJ Giants Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Steve Holm and Brian Bocock.
New on the SF Giants roster are Pablo Sandoval (1b), Mark Minicozzi (2b), David Marol (3b), Ben Copeland (lf), Mike Mooney (rf), Antoan Richardson (cf), Anthony Contreras (if), and Nate Schierholtz (of). Eric Hengehold was signed to be the backup catcher.
The rotation will be filled out by Adam Cowart, Henry Sosa, and Joe Martinez. In the bullpen will be Jason Waddell, Sergio Romo, Ryan Paul, Taylor Wilding, Guillermo Rodriguez and Stacy Frias (LOOGL).
A high SF Giants official stated "These kids have shown that they can compete with anyone".
Personally I am excited about these changes and I am looking forward to the season. So enjoy the second day of the baseball season and the first of April.
