A bit of a pitchers duel

S.J. Giants lose in 10 innings, 1-0: "MODESTO 1, GIANTS 0 Jay Cox's single to right in the bottom of the 10th inning drove in Daniel Mayora for the winning run."

If you like pitching, last night's game in Modesto was a gem. The SG Giants' Clayton Tanner went 6 innings gave up two hits, a walk and had nine strikeouts. He was matched by Modesto's Esmil Rogers who pitched 7 innings and gave up five hits and had eight strike outs. All told there were 24 Ks and 2 walks in 10 innings. Unfortunately, the last two hits went against the Giants.

Roberts put on DL with inflamed knee: "The Giants placed left fielder Dave Roberts on the 15-day disabled list shortly before Tuesday night's game against the San Diego Padres with inflammation in his left knee."

Keep the paint can open. Towards the bottom of the article we find that Clay Timpner (2005) was called up to fill Roberts spot on the roster. Timpner was the defensive player of the year in 2005. I am getting the impression that the wall is going to get a bunch of new names this year. Thanks to Dave for the link.
