Giants bring up Hinshaw, DL Valdez:
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants placed right-hander Merkin Valdez on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained right elbow and purchased the contract of left-hander Alex Hinshaw from Triple-A Fresno.(Via San Francisco Giants News.) Alex Hinshaw (2006) was promoted to the SF Giants today replacing Merkin Valdez (2004). While it is bad news for Merkin, it is always a good thing to see our kids move up. Congrats to Alex.
As Greg reports, he came into today's game and faced two batters, striking out the first and giving up a single to the second.
