Giants beat Rockies 6-5, demote Velez to Triple-A: DENVER - Eugenio Velez was a blur of energy in spring training and one of the greatest hopes for the Giants this year. Seven weeks into the season, Velez will find his playing time at Triple-A Fresno. Moments after the Giants broke a six-game losing streak with a weak-kneed, 6-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night, Manager Bruce Bochy optioned Velez and announced that infielder Travis Denker would join the club today. (Via Mercury News: Baseball.) Travis Denker (2007) was one of the SJ Giants hero's in last fall's Championship run. He started slowly in Connecticut this season, but has been playing much better since moving up to Fresno (.303 in 11 games with 3 RBIs). Congrats to Travis!
